CCA Kitakyushu Project Gallery presented a new work by Ken Lum.
At the CCA, with a work titled “I wish I has more friends,” Kem Lum conflated the public environment of brightly colored text-signs that are commonly found adorning Japanese mini-marts, popular magazines and newspapers, and accompanying Japanese television variety shows, with expressions of personal anguish, regret and desire. The effect is a work that is at once over-the-top and oppressively contained.
Ken Lum stayed at CCA Kitakyushu as Professor of Research Program during a month of May 2001.
