William Bennett

William Bennett, the self-styled animal response technician, is probably the foremost innovator and pioneer of extreme electronic music, founding his Whitehouse at the age of 19 in London in 1980. Before then he had been a classically trained guitarist and a member of new wave band Essential Logic. It was from touring at that time that he had the idea of using music as an overwhelming force, and to this day he continues to forge new unexplored ground in deeply emotive sound manipulation combined with his uniquely stylized vocal technique for lyrics of devastating psychological potential. This radical approach has had the effect of polarizing the electronic and experimental music community, with the more conservative and traditional finding his work too confrontational and controversial.
