Hou Hanru

Hou Hanru is an art critic and curator, and now the artistic director of Rome’s MAXXI – Museo nazionale delle art del XXI secolo since September 2013. He served as San Francisco Art Institute Director of Exhibitions and Public Program and Chair of Exhibition and Museum Studies (2006 – 2012). Before joining SFAi, he lived and worked in Paris and has organized many art projects and exhibitions such as the Biennials of Shanghai (2000), Istanbul (2007), Venice (French Pavilion in 1999, Chinese Pavilion in 2007), Lyon (2009) and Guangzhou Triennial (2005), Tirana Biennale (2005), and 5th Auckland Triennial (2013).
