David Peace is a writer who lives in Tokyo. Peace is known as a chronicler of the 20th century; the Red Riding Quartet dealing with the Yorkshire Ripper, GB84 on the 1984-85 miners’ strike, The Damned Utd and Red or Dead on football, and the Tokyo Trilogy (he is now writing the last novel) on the American occupation period of post-war Japan. He develops his novels from the historical facts of war, politics, crime and sport to construct an image of societies of extremes.
