Xavier Veilhan

Xavier Veilhan (born 1963 in Lyon) lives and works in Paris, France. In his series of work of photo based large tableaux, Veilhan gives back to the pictures their previous function: the viewer can find different stories by engaging in the works. This kind of narrativity has its art historical roots in the nineteenth century academic painting. Involving photographs, computer and large scale printing, those images have another connection with some methods of production he is interested in. He started as a painter, but soon he started to work more with installations and other spatial works, in which he has reproduced specific objects: guns, cars, animals, etc., with different scales, materials and function.
