Ryosaku Sakieda
Ryosaku Sakieda is a musician from Ishigaki Island.
In 2008, he formed the unit “Kiiyama Shouten” (“Kiiyama” means “awesome” in Yaeyama dialect, and “shouten” means “store”) with his brother Masato and his cousin Hiroki.
The unit’s name derives from a candy store that was run by their three grandfathers.
In 2010, Kiiyama Shouten began producing commercial songs and intensified the activities, and in 2011, the band’s commercial song for Okinawa FamilyMart (convenience store) gained popularity.
In 2013, the band collaborated with the puplar Ishigaki native band BEGIN and released “Okaeri Minami nu Shima” (Welcome Back to the Southern Island). In 2021, they released the mini-album “Akasatana”. Sakieda also writes lyrics and composes music and is currently active with the unit “Yaeyama Monkey” with Yoshito Higuchi.
