Didier Fiuza Faustino

CCA Kitakyushu Project Gallery presented a new work by Didier Fiuza Faustino. His architectural and artistic projects are above all focused on the issue of space as a political, social and bodily experience. He conceives architecture as a “tool for exacerbating our senses and sharpening our awareness of reality”.

“Architecture, today, is less and less objective and that it is seeking into the digital a validation induced by the rigorous logics of use of softwares. My work on the body is a work which fully assumes the subjectivity induced by the spatial apprehension of all individual. Why the body? Because the body in a space designed as an “information flux” or a digital flux, is compulsorily (necessarily) an obstacle or something which goes against linearity. It is indeed this interaction between this obstacle and architecture that interests me and not the production of an orphan space. My work focuses on the question of ambiguity, fragility and doubt. I do not try to produce an architecture which would be one and indivisible, if not dominating, but on the contrary, an uncertain/doubtful architecture, subject to actions of the individuals who practice/use it.”

The project for CCA: “Salaryman’s Dream” is a fragment of territorial parasite, constituted by elements issued of contemporary construction banality/standardisation, that interrogate our inscription in space-time.

Didier Fiuza Faustino stayed at CCA Kitakyushu as Professor of Research Program from September 15 to October 14, 2005.
