Shunsuke Kurakata

Shunsuke Kurakata is Associate Professor of Faculty of Engineering at Osaka City University since 2011. He teaches architectural history and theory. His primary research interests are architectural ideas in modern Japan, and pursue the characteristics of some architects. Kurakata’s doctoral dissertation ‘Study on the architecture and Philosophy of Chuta Ito’ is written with the aim of clarifying the relationship between Chuta Ito’s architectural ideas and his architectural planning activities. Chuta Ito (1867 – 1954) was an architect and architectural historian who played an active part from the middle of the Meiji Era until just prior to the advent of the World War II.
