Ayumi Yonaha
Born in Yonaguni Island, located at the westernmost point of Japan.
Since childhood, Yonaha has been deeply familiar with Minyo and Enka (unique genres of Japanese popular music) and has won numerous prizes for her singing.
After entering high school in Ishigaki island, she joined the Folk Arts Club and participated in national competitions. Yonaha also received the newcomer award and the excellence award in Yaeyama classical folk songs.
From 2004 to 2009, she was active as a third-generation member of Nenes, one of the most well-known female groups performing Okinawan Minyo and pop music while wearing traditional Okinawan clothing. Currently in addition to her solo activities across diverse genres, including Okinawa folk songs, Yaeyama folk songs, Yonaguni Island songs, and songs from Asia and the West, Yonaha performs with her band unit both domestically and internationally, using her music to share the history and charm of Okinawa and its islands through song.
