Mamoru Miyagi

Mamoru Miyagi is a musician from Tonoshiro, Ishigaki.
He moved to mainland Okinawa for his college and worked as a salaryman. His music career began when his composition “Yaima,” written during his corporate life, was selected for a local airline company’s commercial.
In 2000, when Masao Sen, who is nationally known as an enka singer, covered “Yaima” for nationwide release, Miyagi achieved mainstream recognition and began his career as a professional musician.
Since then, he has composed songs for many artists, including the theme song for popular TV drama and produced music for popular singers in Japan such as Emiko Uenuma, Rimi Natsukawa, and others. He is also actively involved in his hometown of Ishigaki Island, where he opened LiveBarYaima and contributes to the development of the local music scene through hosting live events and providing studio facilities.
