Ren Yomochi

Ren Yomochi was born in 1994 and raised in Shiraho on Ishigaki Island. Growing up immersed in the traditional songs and performing arts of the Yaeyama Islands, he began learning the sanshin and studying Yaeyama classical folk music in his childhood. At the age of 18, he moved to Tokyo, launching his professional musical career alongside his sister, Sakura Yomochi. Today, drawing on his deep foundation as a sanshin and flute player, he is highly active as a support guitarist, performing in live concerts and recording sessions for various artists. Yomochi is highly acclaimed for his supportive playing style, which respects the unique sense of timing, spacing (ma), and breath developed through traditional music.
