2025 Recipient

Haneul Lee, an artist based in Seoul, is currently a PhD candidate at Hongik University. Lee’s research will be conducted in mainland Okinawa, where her ongoing project focuses on “Amerasian” children on the island. Through photography, her primary medium, she explores how the implications and meanings of this terminology “Amerasian” are interwoven with the identities and history of Okinawa.

After finishing her Master’s degree at Curatorial Studies, CCS Bard, Charlotte Youkilis is beginning her next professional chapter at the Guggenheim New York. During her research in Japan, Youkilis will focus on Madeline Gins, who is known for her collaborative duo with Shusaku Arakawa.
