Irene Giardina

Irene Giardina’s research activity is mainly in the physics of disordered systems where she has studied the occurrence of phase transitions and off-equilibrium dynamics in systems exhibiting glassy behavior. Giardina is interested in interdisciplinary research, and has devoted much attention to the modelization of socio-economic contexts where the emergence of a non trivial collective behavior originates from specific and often not understood microscopic mechanisms.
