CM von Hausswolff was born in Linkoping, Sweden in 1956. He lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
For some time Hausswolff has been focusing on “borderline cases”. In 1992 he and his colleague Leif Elggren founded the country of Elgaland-Vargaland occupying all borders between other countries all over the world. In Pusan, Helsinki and Istanbul he constructed the “-izers”, where you could be asianized, europeanized, koreanized, japanizied, swedized or finnized just by passing through a gateway picking up a new “identity card”, and he has also worked a lot with communication with “the other side” – how to talk to the dead. Hausswolff has also released numerous LPs and CDs on a variety of independent labels. He is also working as a freelance curator at Fargfabriken Center for Contemporary Art and Architecture.
